Hi.  I have done several paintings on slate.  It is just petrified mud and very fragile.  I did not seal it, but just painted what I wanted to directly on it, and sealed it afterwards.  I don't have any pictures of my work saved to this computer, otherwise I would post some for you to see...Sherry
