Hi Kim,I think you are off to a very good start. I commend you on attempting some challenging subjects....i think that's great because that's how you grow. One suggestion i think that might help is a subtle adjustment in scale of your subjects to the rock size you select. The hummingbird and flowers are very beautiful and vibrant. I'm thinking the subject is a tad to big for the rock.... .. I think if you did the entire painting slightly smaller it would fit better on the rock and the wings wouldn't be truncated. this would make your birds body shape more recognizable and a more accurate representation. Same holds for the owl. If you made the subject smaller then it would be easier to discern the head poking out of the wood tree hole. Don't get discouraged....you are doing great! With Art ...no matter how long you've been painting.... you never put your paint brushes up and say i've learned all there is to know. There is always more to discover. Leighsa
