I'm not here very much anymore. I do love to paint rocks and I
understand your problem with Patio Paints. The first thing you should
do is make sure you shake the paint up...It has probably separated
while sitting on the shelf. I really like using Patio Paints because
it has a built in sealer and it is acrylic. If you are having problems
with reds and oranges showing up, Lin's advice is to paint white or
yellow for a base coat. If you already have a white base coat, then I
figure that the paint is not mixed up well in the bottle. I have
painted some pavers and some are very rough and hard to paint. I have
done a basket on one, rather, I am doing a basket of flowers on one now
and put wood putty on the top to make it a little smoother to paint
flowers in the basket. Rocks are still my favorite surface to paint
because they are much smoother, in general. Don't give up and don't
throw away your Patio Paints. Once you learn the trick to using them,
you will probably love them. Keep asking questions. There are a LOT
of good instructors and really talented artists in this group! And, the
best thing of all is they love to share! happy Painting! Wandra Ann
