I use the Delta Ceramcoat Varnish and it works really well.  However that boat varnish sounds like the perfect solution for you.  I don't think I could get that very easily here in Az.  There is very little boat usage here...hehehe  I use to get the varnish at Wal Mart, but they don't carry it any more.  Michaels has it or I just bought a couple big bottles of it online.

Can't wait to see your project sounds very interesting!
