Hey Holly,
regarding the glare....as kathleen mentioned, many of us try to take the pic before we seal them so all the detail can be seen. Another tip that suzi shared is you can try putting a piece of tissue paper over the flash to minimize it. I take my pics before I seal them but sometimes the whites still are overexposed. It's a little awkward but I cover the flash halfway with my finger to still utilize the light but it cuts down on the glare some. If I need to I can then put my pic into my photo editing program and lighten it up ......this way I avoid the color wash-out that a bright flash can do.
