UFIXX Glaze and Seal is resin based and is a penetrating acrylic sealer which forms a glossy, colorless and non-yellowing hard protective surface barrier. It's active ingredients are Petroleum distillates and tough glossy polymer. That's all it says. Sounds good..but don't think we can get it in the States.
With Spar sealers....most manufacturers formulate their Spar Varnish with resin and Tung Oil. The larger the portion of Tung Oil, the better quality of Spar Varnish. So brand name might be important as some might be inferior. They state that they yellows less over time than other oils, therefore a varnish that contains tung oil will have a tendency to yellow less over time....at least over a Polyurethane Polyurethane varnishes are not light and UV resistant, and therefore will turn "yellow" rather quickly. They can also have adhesion problems with themselves and other finishes.. Polyurethane is classified as an oil based varnish. Most oil based varnishes are amber (yellowish) in color to begin with. This is because the oils used to make the varnish are amber. I used polyurethane on a wooden picnic beach I put in my back yard and it hasn't lasted a yr. The gallon cost arond $25.00 (home depot)
I have exclusively used krylon spray for my rocks. I'm not a fan of using it for exterior stones. My customers don't seem too enthused to have to bring them in and out and have to invest in krylon to reseal yearly. I haven't been to diligent with my own outside rocks and those are all faded out. I've even used krylon triple-thick with no improvement.
