Thanks for your message. I really hate to say this but the cheap
boards I've been referring to were Dick Blick brand. I like their
products too, for the most part. All I know is out of about 20 boards
of various sizes (all part of one order), two have this problem of the
paint cracking up on them, and more than a dozen that were painted are
fine. I just won't buy them again. They all smelled horrible anyway, I
even waited a while to paint on them because I was trying to air them
out. On the few that I have left I will experiment to see if they will
prove usable.
I'm going with Fredrix from now on. Mister Art online has them.
Sorry to have to say anything negative about Dick Blick. The prices
were great.
