Somerville tent at ArtBeat this Saturday!
The new frontier of the local arts scene, East Somerville's rich and
colorful culture is open and accesiible to all, and we will be
bringing a little piece of that E-So vibe to Seven Hills Park behind
the Davis T stop and near the ArtBeat main stage.
Learn how you can become involved in some of the exciting new public
arts initiatives happening in East Somerville. As the city's oldest
and most diverse neighborhood, the cultural and artistic energy that
dwells in the eastern third of town have been long been one of
Somerville's hidden treasures. You can come learn more about what's
happening, and become a big part of the arts and cultural development
of our community!
Reflecting this year's theme of Green, Somerville artist Antonio
Oliveira will be exhibiting a series of new multimedia works. Using
found and recycled wood and natural materials, Oliveira's bold
iridescent paintings and sculptures were a popular stop during the
recent Colors of the Americas : East Somerville Art Walk and have been
exhibited throughout the US and his native Brasil. Don't miss this
opportunity to meet this exciting new Somerville artist (and
super-nice guy.)
Additionally, there will be a chance to win a dinner for two at Maya
Sol, Somerville's newest and most authentic Mexican grill. Limited
edition stylin' E-So t-shirts will available, plus lots of free
treats, new neighborhood Restaurant Guides and plenty of East
Somerville banter.
