Dear Community Partner:
The Somerville Public Schools is looking for businesses, non-profit partners, volunteers and community experts to work with us planning and running afterschool activity clubs for students in Grades K-8 across the City. We know you have experience helping students learn in innovative ways, enthusiasm for afterschool learning, and a desire to help students develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be successful throughout their lives.
This is why we are inviting you to an
afterschool activity club Bidders’ Conference hosted by the Somerville Public Schools
on Thursday, September 4th from 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
at the SPS Central Office (
PLEASE RSVP by August 29th if you plan to attend. If demand/interest is high, we will need to change venues.
Letting us know you plan to attend by August 29th will ensure you get an email letting you know if the meeting has moved, and to where.

The purpose of this conference is to help us learn more about the strengths and ideas you have to offer to our students. We also want you to better understand the roles, goals and expectations we’ve set for our afterschool and other out-of-school activity time.
At this conference we will:
· Orient you to the strategies we use to set our programming priorities for students in Grades Kindergarten through 8
· Orient you to the academic and social goals we have for our programming for students in different grade groups
· Discuss the expectations the District has of its afterschool club providers as members of the team who keep our schools healthy and safe
· Discuss how the 21st
· Introduce the new afterschool service delivery model being launched at the
· Walk you through the process of successfully submitting a proposal to deliver afterschool activity club services in one or more of our twelve afterschool programs
· Learn what you want from the District to make your afterschool work with our students even stronger
· Make connections between people and organizations with similar ideas and expertise

It is not mandatory that you attend this Bidders’ Conference to be selected to run an activity club in the Somerville Public Schools. You can fill out an activity club proposal form, available on the SPS website, and submit it to Somerville Community Schools. Staff at each afterschool program in the District will work with the Principal to review proposals to make the best match to serve their students. All proposal forms are due by September 12th in order to be considered for the Fall session which starts on October 6th.
Afterschool activity clubs are an important way the Somerville Public Schools realizes its goal of helping each student develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to be successful throughout their lives. Thank you for the work you have done with us in the past, and for your continuing interest in strengthening the instructional and enrichment opportunities available to all of our students.
