[somartscouncil] Space party? MUM Under McGrath

Hi All,

By now you are maybe still wondering whether you
really had attended a spaced out dance party under
McGrath with at least one astronaut in full costume
last Saturday. Or maybe, you are just realizing you
had missed one of the premier Somerville art events of
the year.

In either case, check out the video at:

Or photos from Somerville photog (and Nave exhibitor),
Scotty Liberatore:

These visuals and video are great but only begin to
scratch the surface of how transformed this derelict
space became for one evening due to the vision and
hard work of all involved. My many many thanks to
these individuals and organizations, beginning with
the City of Somerville & the Mass Cultural Council
for their vision in creating the ArtsUnion partnership
which has brought so many fantastic events to Union Sq
for the past years.

If you have pix from MUM08, feel free to post on
either our MUM myspace page, facebook page or add to
flickr. If you post on flickr please add the tags
"projectmum", "artsomerville" "somervilleartscouncil"
and "mcgrath".

The links to those pages as well as some photos from
Charles Daniels are posted here:

Finally an extra thanks to all the people at the City
of Somerville who pulled together and made this event
possible despite the ongoing construction under
McGrath. If you have ever tried to get something
accomplished on either state or city level on 4:00 on
a Friday afternoon, you probably appreciate the effort
made by Mayor Joe Curtatone and his staff when they
managed to convince all involved to move the
construction equipment and portopot piled in the
center of the space we had a permit for to use as a
dance floor. Quite simply put, Somerville Rocks!

Official thanks yous!
