[somartscouncil] SGC Plant Sale, Sept 20

Dear Arts Council community,

Please join us on Saturday, September 20, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, for the Somerville Garden Club's annual Perennial and House Plant Sale. Rain or shine, this event occurs at the intersection of Holland St and College Ave in Davis Square. Gardeners and first time buyers will find a large and interesting variety of healthy perennial plants, shrubs, herbs, house plants and trees, at very reasonable prices. Continuing a long tradition of pass-along plants, gardeners around the city donate plants that perform well, some particularly beautiful varieties. Plant selections will suit many garden needs, from dry shade to full sun. Each plant is labeled with care instructions, including light and soil needs.

Other specialties of the event include a horticultural information table, a children's table, the club's informative newsletter, and this year, coir bricks and SGC reusable tote bags.

This annual event benefits the educational and horticultural activities of the Somerville Garden Club, an all-volunteer organization. The club maintains plantings at the Central and West Library Branches, Powderhouse Rotary, and a soon to be remodeled site along the Community Path at Highland Ave. The club also sponsors monthly programs on gardening and landscaping methods and related environmental topics, open to the public. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month at 167 Holland St, second floor.

Plant donations are gratefully accepted and there are many ways to get involved.  Drop off donations, well labeled please, at 19 Chester St or 264 Willow Ave, or  call 617 666-9997; also visit www.somervillegardenclub.org
