its fall show
(currently in rehearsal).
The Rimers of Eldritch (by Lanford Wilson) is an ensemble show about a
small town and its secrets. It's a bit like a choral piece, with
scenes interweaving and the different characters's voices and stories
playing off each other. It's a fairly intense drama with some "mature
themes" (sex, violence, religion), but it definitely has its comic
moments.
The role is the Trucker (male, any age, could be played by female
actor). The Trucker represents different characters at different
points in the show: a trucker passing through town, a local farmer,
one of a pair of troublemakers who harrass the town homeless guy.
It's a smaller role, though because it's an ensemble show where
everyone is on stage most of the time, there are a lot of all-cast
rehearsals. It's a fairly intense rehearsal schedule (3-5 rehearsals
per week, though for this particular role, there are several weeks
that are lighter than that). Rehearsals are at the Elizabeth Peabody
House in Somerville, on Broadway out past Ball Square -- there's a
couple of busses that go there, but it's definitely less convenient
than, say, Davis if you're relying on public transportation (but there
may be some carpool options, depending on personal geography).
Rehearsals are in progress; performances are November 7-22 (3
weekends, 9 shows).
It's a great cast and a great theatre space. If you're interested in working
