Hi Kathleen!  I was just stunned to see that my flag brick made the homepage!  This is my first attempt at painting anything, and also the one that I was having so much trouble getting the Patio Paint to cover.  I am in awe and amazement at everyone's talent in this group and felt intimidated and silly posting my brick, but I thought what the heck.  So here's all I went through to make it.  I had a flag decal and went to Staples and enlarged it to fit the brick.  The stripes I just traced with dressmakers carbon paper (which really works great on stone).  Now the stars were the big problem.  I went to Michael's Crafts and in the scrapbooking department they had a Martha Stewart hole punch in the star shape.  I traced the stars onto, of all things, a sheet of plastic cut from a milk jug then cut them all out with the hole punch keeping in mind that the stars always point upwards on the American flag.  I tried to stencil the stars in but the paint bled under the stencil, so had to repaint the background and come up with a new plan.  So I used a white charcoal pencil and drew the stars on using the stencil, then handpainted them all in using an 18/0 liner brush.  My hand was shaking because I was so nervous but I finally did it the best I could.  It's very rewarding to finish a project and I can't believe in my retirement I'm learning to paint bricks and rocks.  So that's the saga of my flag brick.  Right now I'm working on a Windsor stone from Lin's latest book and I'm trying to get the nerve up to attempt the wicker basket technique.  Thank you again for your positive comments and encouragement.  I am truly inspired by everyone's talent.  Enjoy this wonderful day that the Good Lord has given us to be creative.  Blessings, Sue
