Somerville Arts Council and SSPSomerville present an ArtsUnion event:
"WRAP'EM: Column Art Under McGrath"
July 26 through September 28, 2008
Opening Celebration: Sat, July 26, 12-2 pm
The intersection of Washington Street & McGrath Highway
WRAP'EM: Column Art Under McGrath is a striking display of 15 columns under the raised portion of McGrath Highway. Each column wrapped in canvas, will be painted by different artists and community groups. Swing by July 26 for the lively and artful reception. This is an outdoor public art installation that will be on display through the summer.

HELP IS NEEDED in setting up the installation.
We have 2 major hanging periods.
Blank Canvas:
Thursday, July 17 12-5 - help install six canvasses onto columns.
Friday am - finish if needed
If you can help install the first round on July 17, please call Cindy at: 617-784-0566. The site is under the McGrath Highway where Washington Street intersects. The work isn't too demanding. We mainly need people to stand on ladders and hold canvas up on each side until it is tightened properly and a few other jobs.
MORE HELP IS NEEDED with the installation of FINISHED PIECES.
Finished Canvas:
Sunday July 20 11-5: install of canvasses already painted.Mon. 12-5: finish if needed
Same thing here. For this installation, the more person-power the better. This is truly a case where "Many hands make light work". We would be grateful for any and all help!
Other things:
1. Distribution of postcards/flyers
Postcards and flyers will be in Brickbottom lobby Wednesday/Thursday and we'll need to get them distributed around. We will have some at the site also. Please grab a flyer or a hand full of cards if you are going some place where you can leave some.
2. Help with set-up - day of the event.
