Amanda and Art Hennessey will be offering INTRO TO ACTING and INTERMEDIATE ACTING this fall in Davis Square, Somerville. PRIVATE COACHING is also available.
INTRO TO ACTING:
WHEN: Wednesday evenings, 7:15-9:45pm, 5 classes: 9/10-10/8
WHERE: at our rehearsal studio in Davis Square
(Davis Square is accessible by the Red Line)
COST: the fee for five classes is $175.
(a $35 nonrefundable deposit is required before classes start)
We will improvise, analyze text and explore characters, monologues and scenes.
INTERMEDIATE ACTING:
PREREQUISITE: Intro to Acting with us or another teacher or school
WHEN: Wednesday evenings, 7:15-9:45pm, 6 classes: 10/15-11/19
WHERE: at our rehearsal studio in Davis Square.
COST: the fee for nine classes is $210.
(a $35 nonrefundable deposit is required before classes start. The balance is payable in installments: $100 for the first class, $75 for the second class)
We will engage in more advanced improvisational exercises, focus on character development, text analysis and work more extensively on monologues and scenes. We will also touch on the audition process and the Boston theatre scene. Students will be expected to work on monologues and scenes with a scene partner outside of class.

PRIVATE COACHING

Amanda Good Hennessey can meet with you privately to ensure that you feel confident and prepared.
PRIVATE COACHING can also be helpful for PUBLIC SPEAKING.

ABOUT THE TEACHERS
Amanda Good Hennessey received her MFA in Acting from the Actors Studio Drama School in NYC. She has performed on stage, in films, industrials and commercials. She most recently performed in THE MEMORY OF WATER with Way Theatre Artists. This past spring she appeared in the Boston Theatre Marathon with SpeakEasy Stage's team and last fall appeared in the critically acclaimed production of THE KENTUCKY CYCLE (winner of the Elliot Norton Award for best Fringe production), produced by Zeitgeist Stage and Way Theatre Artists. Other recent productions include Company One's MR. MARMALADE (nominated for both Elliot Norton and IRNE awards for Best Production), [sic] at the Devanaughn, SpeakEasy's production of THE WOMEN, (recipient of 5 IRNE awards including Best Ensemble and Best Production), and THE SISTERS ROSENSWEIG (understudy for the role of Pfeni) at The Huntington. Amanda also appears in THE CHILD KING, a feature film that premiered in the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival and won the Feature Films for Families Award, Best Feature, 2007 Kids First! Film Festival. Over the past few months she has completed work on the following short films: Your Inner Cassavetes, The Sneakers, Here We Go Again, and Beneath the Surface. Amanda also works with Dramatic Results, a company that employs actors to assist with training in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. She teaches acting at the Huntington Theatre Company, Boston University and the New York Film Academy.
Art Hennessey is a playwright, director, and actor and runs a popular theatre blog entitled: http://mirroruptolife.blogspot.com/. Art has appeared in a variety of commercials and also works for Dramatic Results, a company that uses actors to assist with training in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. His play I GO SOLO was nominated for an IRNE in 2003 for best new play and his short play TRUMPETER won best play in the 2004 Short Takes Festival at Arlington Friends of the Drama. His plays BAG OF BONES, STAGEY READINGS and TRUMPETER were finalists in the Actors Theatre of Louisville's National 10 minute play contest. Art also teaches several classes at Emerson College and will be teaching a course on playwriting this fall at the Boston Center for Adult Education.
