book, "Somerville, Massachusetts: A Brief History," with long-time
collaborator Dora St. Martin, a former Somerville librarian. Morris
has led walking tours in Somerville and other local communities for
many years.
This Sunday, Sept. 21, Morris will give a talk on her book at 2 p.m.
at the Somerville Museum, 1 Westwood Road. Learn about Missy Lehand,
President Franklin Roosevelt's private secretary; Mary Sawyer Tyler,
better known as Mary of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" fame, and other
personal stories that convey the way we were at different periods of
our history. A book signing will follow the talk.
The program is sponsored by the Somerville Museum, Historic
Somerville, and the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission.

Other book-related talks are being planned on Oct. 29 at the
Somerville Public Library and on Nov. 8 at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
